Actually, watching it only gives you a perceptual view. A sector or 2 may be bad but that's only a fraction of a second of movie. Many people wouldn't notice the "glitch".
But a properly configured prog should. I do like to verify my burns, I really think that is a good test. For some strange reason, I also do a Nero CD DVD Speed test afterwards.
