Movie maker recommendations

Is there a program similiar to windows movie maker that enables manipulation direct from dvd or vob files,without having to convert into avi/mpeg first?

Usual stuff,inserting titles,visual effects(wipes,fades etc)all the things you do with movie maker basically.with that prog its neccesary to convert to avi/mpeg then back to dvd to burn! Seems a lot of messing about.

try ulead video studio. you can d/l a trial version from their website. note that some programs that won't load a vob file will load the file if you change the file extension from vob to mpg. IIRC wmm will load the vob if you change the extension to mpg
