Load the file into VirtualDub. From the "File" dropdown, select "File Information". Post ALL information listed.

The Virtualdub procedure should reveal your codec. If your file is a divx avi, ensure that you have installed divx 3.11 alpha (most divx content is in this format). Do not let divx 4.x play divx 3.11 content. Divx 5.0 may cause problems with earlier versions. Alternatively, install one of the numerous codec packs--such as ACE, TSUNAMI, or NIMO.

As a precaution, I would recommend uninstalling divx 5.0.

              -What player are you using?
-alternatively install one of the numerous codec packs such as TSUNAMI or NIMO (see if that helps).
-Does the audio appear in Virtualdub?

As a guess install the Radium MP3 codec (or any other mp3 codec). I don't think this will help.

Have you tried the TSUNAMI codec pack? There are many, at least one of them should work

                  Again, uninstall divx 5.0

Odd yes. Also, try installing the AC3 codec---that might be it. Perhaps, just re-boot your system? Did you recently install any new hardware or software? Maybe you should examine that? Check the faq's at divx.com also.

The "unknown" audio format (0x0161) is the DivX audio that's installed as part of the DivX v.3.11alpha codec...
