In TMPGEnc, click the "Setting" button at the bottom (next to load and save), then a new window will pop up click the "Advanced" tab and then double click "Source Range". At the bottom there will be a "Audio Gap" button. Play around with it to see if you can get the audio in sync. (Go up or down in increments of 5)

      Another thing to try:
I don't suppose this is a PAL -> NTSC conversion? If so, disregard the following:
Use ffmpegGUI (free) to convert the source (AVI) audio to MP2 or AC3. Demux your converted file with TMPGEnc's MPEG Tools. Remux with the audio from ffmpegGUI. That might fix it. Get ffmpegGUI here:
ffmpegGUI is very simple and fast AC3, MPA/MP2 audio encoder tool. Open WAV, MP3, AVI video, MPG video and convert directly to AC3 or MPA/MP2 audio in one step. GUI for ffmpeg.

TMPGEnc's audio converter isn't the best, it's cranky about VBR audio, sometimes CBR too if there are bad frames/corrupt header.

      Good luck.

yes i have had many files where the original plays in synch, but then is out after tmpgenc conversion. if the synch is out consistently throughout, playback a piece of the encoded file, and determine about how much in seconds, and if it early or late. adjust it where jmet mentioned, 1000 indicates 1 second, if the audio is earlygive the number a neg value, if it is late a positive value. i have corrected many files this way and works like a charm, if your new at this it will take some trial and error to find the "perfect" #

p.s. use the "source range "in this same window to select only say 10-20 seconds for testing instead of encoding the whole file, then when you found the right audio gap correct value, do the whole thing. good luck

your audio and video are of the same length which is good. It appears you are trying to change the video fps. If the audio is out of sync the same thru-out the video you can adjust as jmet and columbo stated. If the audio sync goes out more as the video plays I would do as fritzi93 stated and demux the audio and video. encode the audio and video separately and mux the two together.

You mean encode the video elementary stream only?

I have an old version, but I presume yours is similar. Close the wizard. Load the AVI as video source. Click "Load" button, bottom right. You have a DVD template for your format (PAL/NTSC), right? Hit the correct one. Hit "Load" again, then "Extra", then "Unlock" (This unlocks the template). Now under "Output Stream Type", click "Video Only".

[EDIT] You can save your own templates as well. Here's a pretty good guide, one of many: http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm

TMPGEnc -> File -> MPEG Tools -> Multiplex. Then adjust as already suggested, if necessary. But perhaps you should run the audio through AC3Fix first. http://www.videohelp.com/tools.php?tool=424#comments

Bleh, my old version of TMPGEnc doesn't support AC3. Perhaps yours doesn't either? How about trying MP2 audio, using ffmpegGUI? It'd take you only 5 minutes or so to generate an MP2 file.

Finally found the specific guide I've been trying to remember. It's for AVIs with AC3 audio, using TMPGEnc. You might double-check your steps against that:

I'd guess that the source audio is corrupted. Did you try repairing the audio with BeSliced or AC3Fix?

This one's really stubborn. Well, try this: Open the AVI in VirtualDub AC3. Audio -> Full Processing Mode -> Compression -> No compression (PCM) -> File -> Save WAV. (VDub will probably complain about the audio.) Then convert to MP2 in ffmpegGUI and try muxing again.

                              I'm running out of ideas.
