Anybody watch movies on a cellphone?

    Hi,

i bought a phone recently, and i bought it specifiically because it had excellent support regarding music and video. mp3/mp4-aac/wav/midi/wma support, not to mention mpeg-4(tested xvid and divx)/wmv support. i've managed to put a full 90 minute movie onto it, and still have space left for ~30 640x480 photos, and 8 128kbps mp3's.

amazing how cellphones can play this stuff so flawlessly

i'm thinking mpeg-4 avc hardware support is not so far off

    anybody else had any experience?

they are a godsend when you're in a waiting room for like a dentist, like i was the other day. watched half of "the panic room"

it was only AU$200, which is around $150 i'm guessing... amazing price

and any encodes (90 min footage) for it only take ~25 minutes on 2-pass, as the final output is only 176x144

no, i encode on pc with virtualdub, and transfer over USB to the phone...

there are no artefacts at 100kbps

i rarely use it to actually watch movies, as i rarely have to wait in one place for so long. is great for music when combined with the hands-free kit though

there's probably one for you then, if you like cubans

but yeah some phones (depending on the service provider) can play 'tv', (mostly sport i think) but it sucks because its like a $0.80 a second

so i provide my own entertainment, as most of the time, australian tv sucks in comparison (to the US) anyway...

a little off topic here, but what network would air re-runs of the simpsons a grand total of at least 7 times a week, an average of 10 per week, and a maximum of about 12-13
