Burning .avi files with .srt subtitles...

I have a question. I have downloaded a movie, .avi, and I have blank DVD's. A friend of mine burned an avi file to DVD, and played the DVD on his DVD player/TV. I intend to do this. However, there is a .srt file (subtitles; this movie isn't in English) that I downloaded separately...

My question is, will DVD players display the subtitle? If so, how do I burn it? Any special program or method to use to burn it so the subtitles will display on a burned DVD via DVD player/TV?

    Thanks,
    Johnathan

I would try DivxToDVD it supports srt subtitles,

      how to:

      add your film software
you will see under title of file a line indicating "subtitles" click here to see if software recognized the subtitles on its own, if now open browser to select them from your harddrive.

there are guides for this software to help you here: http://www.vso-software.fr/tutorial.htm

trial version leaves a watermark on video (not on purchased version)
