Divx codec for AVI format

PLEASE HELP,
I am searching for a divx codec to play AVI files. Not including the Divx Playa, because I just want to play it with Mediaplayer. This is because my dad won't allow me to downlaod the whole package. I haven't had luck jet.
Maybe you can change that.
Do you know where I can get that codec or how I can play AVI files with Mediaplayer another way?

Thanks, but I am really confused about what the best whould be or even what a good one should be! Or how I can instal it ! (I read the Read-me files)

no prob, just install the divx3.11 alpha (its just the codec) and then the divx4.12 (not the bundle, there is a single codec out there too) and u dont get installed any player

If you follow Thrawn's suggestion, when you're installing the v.4.12 codec (AFTER installing the v.3.11alpha codec) answer with a resounding "NO!" when asked if you want 4.12 to play v.3.11 files...

Hey, I am back with another question! I can play the AVI files now but there isn't any sound!
So the question is: How can I fix this???

which sound codec is used? i think it should be one of these 2:
wma2 or ac3

wma2 should be installed with the microsoft codec update (windows media technologies in the download section of microsoft) and for ac3 codec make a google search or find it in digital-digest.com software/codec section (as i think u dont want to install codec packages)

why does your dad not allow to get the full pack at all?
