They've added a few more buttons for the editor, but it's not WYSIWYG (which you can tell because when you make a text bold, it actually appears bold in the text edit box, for example). I haven't modified the normal reply page at all - the wideness is probably because some of the smileys currently being displayed are a bit too big.

I meant the layout differences. In the old "Standard" editor there would be 2 columns of smilies, the WYSIWYG editor would display 4 columns of smilies. Now the layout of both appears to be the same, (I preferred the 2 columns, but it's not a real big deal).I especially like the Quick Reply area showing more of the Standard editor buttons, so the need to use the Adv editor is greatly reduced anyway.

IE6 works, but same issue as uncas with latest firefox (1.0.7). can't click any icons in advanced/quick reply box, so can't use bold, italics, font colour, etc

Had the same problem - you need to delete the cache in Firefox as admin suggested.

Ok, I see the problem now (although the smileys this time round are all small ones, so they fit in nicely into 5 rows of 4 columns each). There's an option now to change the number of smiley columns. I've changed it back to 2.

ok i cleared the cache, and all is well

i must say, i like how the quick reply does not reload the page, and the new editing method

and i just noticed our sigs are showing on each post, i liked the '1 sig per page' thing, made things much easier to read...

If I'm going bonkers or doing a boo boo pardon me. Wasn't there a choice when responding for guided mode or another mode using the advanced mode where you picked one?

Also when trying to put a link in a response, I didn't get a screen for the text to use for the link, just the screen to enter the url.

First write the text - then highlight the text and press the link button. Then the highlighted text will be in the link.

It is showing as 1 sig per page for me, at least in this thread.

They've improved the editor somewhat (both the WYSIWYG and the normal one), allowing formatting to the applied to highlighted text. There is a button (the right most button) on the normal/advanced reply page that allows you to switch between WYSIWYG and the normal/advanced editor. They removed the guided/enhanced mode, and now it's basically just the enhanced mode. The reason is that for the guided mode, they had this Javascript pop-up where you type in the text - this is no longer necessary because the typing cursor is automatically directed to the right place now, so for example, you can click on the "Bold" button and continue typing in the text to be made bold without having to move the cursor.

Editor problem/change from old version

I use the Windows XP skin and WYSIWYG editing style. When I edit a post (which is frequent due to my illiterate style and often bad composition), the old software used to come up "formatted". This was convenient if I had a list and simply wanted to add to it.

Now, I get the standard editor style (even in "go advanced mode") and have to do the[*] thingy for lists. Also, in that mode, I could highlight a word and Ctrl-B for bold, Ctrl-I for italic. Now Ctrl-B just brings up organise favourites (as it does in IE).

Has a setting been changed?

EDIT: Just read admin's previous post again - have to click that right hand button. Bit of a pain - first have to hit Edit. Then Go Advanced. Then the right hand button. Must be a quicker way.

By the way, I am sure this Software is a LOT faster than the old version. Well done!

Is there a hack?


Is there a hack that makes the default action in your PM Inbox as Delete instead of Move to folder?

And do other members think it would be a good idea to implement?

The default for sent items is delete which is good IMHO. But not for inbox.
