    Camcorder movie to Dvd

I have recocred my vaction on my Canon ZR40 Camcorder, its has the MINI DV hook up.. i would like to know what program can i use to transfer it over to a DVD. I have 2 tapes and i would like to get both on one DVD, but i used Microsoft movie maker and made it into a WMV file and the quality sucks. What program can i use to where it would look great and not diminish the quality.

i assume you are using a firewire connection, download & install the free tool 'windv' from http://www.doom9.org

it will transfer losslessly (no loss in quality) to an avi file on your hard disk. there is also a guide to using it (not that you really need one) for it on that site

to convert to dvd, i recommend you use 'tmpgenc' using the 'dvd template' (guides available at the same site) to convert to mpeg-2, and then 'tmpgenc dvd author' to prepare for burning

I want to do the same. I did not find the tool "windv" from the link you attached. Also, I do not have a firewire cable with my camcorder, but I do have a USB cable, Can I get the same results?

      Thanks

'windv' only works through firewire i believe, i'm not sure whether you can actually transfer video through that usb connection, maybe just still images (depends on your camera; check the manual).

I do actually transfer video through the USB. I have done it several times using Windows Movie Maker.

Where can I downlod the windv software?

          Thanks
