    Highspeed question

Ok I can not get cable or DSL and my satellite service dont offer it(Dish Network)I think I missed being able to get DSL by 500 ft.I looked into getting satellite DSL but I refuse to pay those high prices I think its $800 for the equipment and around $70-$100 a month for the service. Is there another way to get the service from the Phone Company or Cable Company or do I just have to wait and see if they get to my area
    Thanks

@BR7 - If the phone comapany said you are too far and they won't do it they are probably trying to cover their butt. Maybe you can tell them you'll try it and if it is not at the rated speed (but more than you have now) maybe they'll do it. It might be worth a shot to get better speed than what sounds like regular dialup.

          500 /17,000 = .029 or 3%
I would think that if your street to in the room copper was excellent
you should at least qualify for dsl lite.

Ur welcome, when broadband first came out, a friend, moved(new apartment complexe) next to a telephone slick so he knew he would qualify
for DSL. Online gamer, bachelor, he got married later, poor guy, had to move again, no time no money.

Don't count on the 128K, I used to be a modem geek in the ATT
newgroups, long ago and far away. If you're connection speed now is
that low, all isdn is gonna do is double it, a good modem connection is
around 52K, you'll be lucky to get a 64K with the 2 lines added together.
Unfortunately it's the same limitation as dsl, the length of the copper
pairs. It's hard as heck to even find isdn modems here in the US except
                    on ebay.

The max I got on a 56k modem peaked at 44k and was not consistent, but it's still worth a shot to pick up speed. Whenever I got a bad connect speed to my ISP I usta hang up and dial again and maybe also change the access number, got a better switch and got a better connection.
