I signed on today to finish burning the backup files of my dvds i had stored on my hard drive only to find the my dvds folder that was in my F: harddrive is completely gone. Anyone else ever experience anything like this? Could it be the work of a virus or something? I just dont want this to happen again down the road.
Backups on HDD wiped out!

I had that happen once - in which random files just disappeared. I think it was due to spyware or a virus, but either way it was undetectable. If it was really important and a search cannot find it, a data recovery place could probably recover it, but those places are very expensive. What I reccomend is back up the rest of the hard drive then reformat and reinstall Windows. Hope you find them though!CYA Later:

I searched for the files on both drives and they were definitely gone. I found a free undeleting program though in case this happens to someone else, it is called PC Inspector File Recovery. I found it after finding the Windows UnDeleter which costs $50. Hope this helps someoneComment

Another good undeleter is Handyrecovery - www.handyrecovery.com. v2.0 seems to be commercial, but I have v1.0 which is freeware and does the job.
