Using Labels on DVDs

I think the balance thing is very important - even if the label stays on it is still out of balance.

And what good's your guanrantee if it comes off anyway - which it must in time. They gunna replace your DVD AND the data on it AND the player? Yeah, right.

I have labels that have been on the DVD since June 2003. They are not coming off and haven't affected the playback yet. The only way to get the labels off will be to tear them off.

They were a different version of the stomper applicator thing.

I did back up the discs with labels on RW discs just in case. So far, I haven't needed to reburn a label free disc yet.

I hope you can afford a better drive soon.... I waited months for a super-dooper drive and that ended up being a Plextor 716A....

I remember two crucial sayings, 1) You get what you pay for 2) Good things come to those who wait (and have 28 days to return less than good products)

Nothing wrong with Pioneer drives. They are the amongst the best along with LG. My LG 4040B has been flawless. I wouldn't get a plextor, I have never liked them and they are expensive.

If I bought another drive it would be the LG 4167.

Yes expensive not all are good drives but none the less I got what I paid for (two for the price of one).... A drive that does more than the ones mentioned (no offense) more formats read/write and speed not to... ahh never mind....

If I bough another....mmmm Im waiting for the next best thing.... I dont care from who as long as it is not a OEM....

I saw the printable dvd blanks in the store. Do you mean the dvd blanks have to go through the printer?

It's a special printer that supports straight on CD/DVD printing....

Whatever you do dont try that with just any printer....

So far the ones that can handle it are Epson R200/R300 and all the R models....

And then it's the professional stuff... Too expensive...

Thanks Floppy for your reply! I wouldnt be that dumb to put a dvd in my printer, but I was wondering how those were used. Sounds kinda cool, but too expensive for me.

I was having success with putting labels on the dvd at first, but then every once in awhile I'd get one that would freeze right before the end of the movie. So I stopped putting labels on and now just print the dvd picture and use as the cover in my slim jewel case like someone else here metioned. I just use a sharpie to write the name of the movie on the dvd. Works fine for me.

Can we put all the burned DVD's still in the same case of 100 pack or do i need it to put seperately in a jewel case??? Is it safe to put burned DVD's as we put Empty DVD's all at one place?? reply, thanks.

I wouldn't. If you wanted one from the bottom you would have to get the ones on top off first. There is also no guarantee that the discs would stay scratch free.

If you don't have room for proper cases, I would either get slim jewel cases or plastic sleeves to put them in.

Epson Stylus Photo R340 Awesome printers,and you can print right on to your cds and dvds with no problem.I also use labels or have in the past with out any problems whatsoever. The Epson printers have aspecial tray that disks fit into perfectly andwillnot movethenyou slide that tray in and match it up with the arrows and let the printer do it's thing. Perfect disks every time.I have never had any balance problems with either technique I have used. I have disks I have played 100'sof times already and they still play perfectly.I think the biggest issue is always the ink cost but with these new printers the ink lasts 4-ever compared to other printers.Plus the ink is only like 10.00 per color and you only have to replace the color you are out of. Because some colors you use more of then others.Saves money in the long run.

I had the same problem with labels. If they're just a tad off center it will have a horrible effect on the playback. I agree that the Sharpie solution just looks hokey, so I got a Casio CW-75 Disc Title Printer a couple of years ago. I'm sure they've come out with newer models since, but I've printed several hundred discs with not one problem. However, like any printer, you'll need to keep purchasing the ink cartridges - in this case they're ribbons. You can get black, red, green and blue and the printer has multiple fonts and effects to choose from, to the end result isn't bad at all. Hope this helps.

The only people that I have seen recommend labels are the ones who sell them. Epson R200 not much more than label kit. They almost give the printer away to sell the ink. There are some carts that can be refilled easy or continuious ink systems.
