Austin Powers commentary...where's Mike Myers?

I just bought Austin Powers International Man of Mystery for $12.

I was keen to hear the commentary which boasted Mike Myers and the director, Jay Roach

All I can hear is Roach talking, and asking Myers questions and laughing at what he 'says'...but I hear no Mike Myers.

The audio options give me 5.1 (which I don't have) and 2.1

I've tried both.

I've tried a TV with stereo speakers and my little one speaker TV, on niether can I hear Myers.

I've tried the different audio options that are on the DVD when I hit the audio button on my remote....nothing.

Only thing I can think of...and it would be a first on any commentary I have ever listened to (unless there's a whole lot I don't know about)...is that my audio out from my DVD player is a stereo cable, of which I only have the left cable plugged into my TV. Maybe Myers is recorded solely on the right track?

But that is dubious because my big TV has a Y adapter accepting both L and R into its one audio input

What's the go, anyone know?

I have this movie and I did a quick check mine works fine I can hear both Roach and Myers on both the widescreen and Standard side of the disc maybe you have a bad DVD.Mine is Region 1 by the way

I just checked my disc and the audio is completely split between L&R. Meyers is only on the R channel and Roach is only on the L channel.

I don't understand what you wrote above. Do you have both L&R from the DVD player plugged into the Y cable? If not you have to do so. If so, one possibility is that your DVD player is set to mono out put or some variant thereof and is only outputting the left channel. You may need to change the output to down-mix or something along those lines.

Yes, both are plugged into the Y adapter...but maybe the right side cable is damaged. I've seen that before.

I will check on my DVD player settings also.

Ok, I took my Y adapter from the big TV and used it on the stereo audio cables coming from my DVD player. This time it worked. So, it must definitely need the L and R.

The big TV must have had a bad R cable going into the Y

Its the Y adapter. Nothing else is wrong. The Y adapter only splits 1 channel. (The Left Channel)

The reason I know that is last year my mother wanted to hook her computer up to some additional speakers outside for her patio, and I just ran a Y adapter out the back of her "Audio Card". One side to her normal computer speakers and the other side to some "aftermarket" computer speakers she bought. It worked but, only the Left side would play on both sets of speakers. I could remove the Y adapter and then both channels would play. I tried all different kinds of Y adapters too.

This Y adapter doesn't split, it combines. I have a L and R coming from my DVD player. I plug both of them into the Y and they are combined so that the single end of the Y can be then plugged into the only audio input of my TV

Yea, I apologize I got that backwards. Same principle though, it combines to just the "Left" channel. It goes both ways, combining and splitting.

I believe that you are referring to mini-plug y-adapters. There are two types of mini-plug y-adapters. Mono and stereo. In the case of RCA, there should be only two monos to one mono. I doubt that hello is using mini-plugs to go from his DVD to TV.
