    Converting MP4 to AVI

Just a question, I downloaded some videos with iTunes, they are not protected, and I want to convert them to an editable format so that they play in something other than Quicktime. Anyone know how to do this? (they are MP4 NOT m4v or whatever it says when doing a Google search)

I'm not sure if it's a good idea, but you can try to convert these movie in mpeg with TMPGEnc, and then convert into DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author.

if all you wish to do is play them in something other than quicktime, download 'media player classic'. you might also like to download ffdshow.

Media Player Classic plays MP4's? I will have to try that. But, it would be nice to have AVI's (or what I call an "editable format") that can be opened by video editing programs.

Wow, that link worked! I found that having TMPGEnc and the QT Plugin for it was absolutely not necessary - just use that converter program, it gives you AVI video, and AAC audio, then use Nero Wave Editor to convert to WAV, and then use VirtualDub to put together. It works perfectly!
