Decompressor???

    Decompressor???

    ok some of my avi files i try to encode will work but some say they couldn't find a decompressor......is there any way to fix this without getting a different copy

    is it the audio or the video giving you the problem? if it's ac3 install this

    you may want to post the file info from virtualdub/gspot

      ok i downloaded that and read the readme file and the file it said for me to right click on and choose install is just a text file and i don't have an option to install on the other files

            ok i installed what you told me to and i still get this Avisynth open failure: AVIsource: couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc xvid

              that's why i asked if it was the audio or video giving you the problem. you can install fddshow or xvid 1.0.3

              xvid (get the stable version)

                ok yeah i already have fddshow and i used the VFW codec configuration to turn the xVid off disabled .....this idea hit me after i sent that last message...thanks for your help though now it works perfectly
