Is there a video editor that doesn't convert?

I have the ATI All in wonder 7500. I capture video to HD1 (352x480) for DVD authoring. However, every video editor and authoring software wants to reencode it. It doesn't just take the video how it is. This wastes so much time. Is there a software program that would simply take the format ATI uses for "Medium DVD" in there presets?

because ur not using the default max size for dvd thats 720x480 [NTSC], check ur settings while authoring, maybe its changing it back to that.

      what authoring software ur using?

right, that is my point. 352x480 IS compliant, I even set all the setting to the same with Ulead, MyDVD, and Pinnicle. THey waste time instead of just using the format that ATI says is compliant.

What is wrong with Ulead Video Studio again? It edits all of my files fine. Just don't burn to a DVD first, just edit the file that was captured in AVI format, then burn using a burning program. If you need it edited as a DVD, try TMPGEnc DVD Author.

But that is the point; I DON'T capture in AVI format. I capture in mpeg2 DVD format from the ATI Multimedia Center. Then I move it to a burning software, but it re-encodes the mpeg2 files which takes a while. Isn't there a "use original format" or something like that in any software?

Hmmm. Maybe Ulead DVD Studio? Or whatever it is? You can get the trials at www.ulead.com - try the TMPGEnc DVD Author if that doesn't work.

ok iv tested what ur doing here r the results.......
                        captured a test video file 352x 576

1: video studio took less then 1 min for same video to dvdfolder.

2: videostudio without clicking ["do not convert compliant mpeg files"] well it needed to encode so i cancled.

3: videostudio without clicking ["do not convert compliant mpeg files"] but customized the settings exactly as the captured file, it didnt render/ re-encode, result same as 1:
