I have many large (more than 700Mb) video files that I would like burn onto cd-rs. Therefore, I am searching for a video cutting/splitting application. I have used Tmpgenc and Myflix3 in the past but neither is a good solution. Tmpgenc re-encodes the files. Myflix3 would not generate a complete file. I also have Ulead's MediaStudio 6.5 but I have not been able to split any mpeg files with it. Is there a mpeg cutter that splits file without re-encoding the file? I know mpeg files should be split by frame and avi files should be split by index. Is Virtualdub good for splitting avi files? Does it recodes the splitted avi files? How to split Mpeg file and avi files properly such that the splitted files can be rejoin to form a complete file.

"Tmpgenc re-encodes the files."
Not if, under its "MPEGTools"/"Merge&Cut", you set the mode to the same format as the file you wish to cut.

VIrtualDub is an ideal tool for splitting .AVI files. If you set both "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copying" there will be no reencoding...
