that's right, if you haven't heard, the XviD team is developing their own (open source, ofcourse) H264 codec, looks mighty promising & healthy competition for the legendary x264!

the final results are out now, the finalists were:

xvid (ASP, the AVC didn't make it)

divx 6.1

as i quietly predicted, x264 was the winner, and deservingly so
