    Download streaming

    Hi.

I just downloaded some streaming video with WMRecorder.
Now I tried to convert it to a MPG, but all the programs I tried won't do the conversion: they say it doesn't contain recognizable video... When I play the video with Windows Media Player, it plays correctly...

Can someone help me plz? Thanks.

Do you have a retail version of WM Recorder or the trial? What I do is, I have the trial of WM Recorder, used for getting the URL's of stuff like Yahoo! Music and other streaming video sites. I then use StreamDown (free) to download the file. Now, it says there is a 15-day limit but it is very easy to disable that... without doing anything illegal.

If you DID get the complete file, not just the 2 mins that WM Recorder limits you to, you will need to do a repair. Use a freeware program called ASFTools and then select "Basic Repair". Now it is editable. I just did this the other day on something I downloaded from Nick.com.

I tried to load it in ASFTools and repair it (basic repair), but when I do so, it gives an error: Failed to set manual stream selection (hr=0xc00d002b)...

Hmmm... What file is this? And what program did you use now?
If you used WM Recorder, do you have the full version?

The file is a WMV, and I use the trial version of WMRecorder.
I also used StreamDown, but that didn't work either, always the same exception.
I'll try something some other time, 'cause I have several exams coming... I let you know when I need your help again.

                Alrighty, then.

The problem with the trial with WM Recorder is that it cuts off at 2 minutes and probably doesn't set the end point there, which causes problems. StreamDown should work.. maybe you got a bad stream.

You could always try Advanced Repair.
