Can you capture into M2V files

Not sure - why? You can normally capture in AVI or MPEG-2 in most programs. MPEG-2 can be converted to M2V using TMPGenc or something.

i was asked at work, and i have no idea what the right answer is,
the way, can it be done as a live stream

What are you using it for? Promotional materials? There is a good webhost out there, www.agigforfree.com that can stream files, you can test it out on mine if you'd like (drfsupercenter.3lo.net) - I would say, capture in AVI and then use something to convert to M2V. If the computer is fast enough, capture in MPEG-2 and then convert to M2V in TMPGEnc. But your computer needs to ber really fast for that to work.

i believe our customer is using it in a broadcast situation, actually it's a very large church with a medium sized broadcast studio and their manager asked me , Can you capture into M2V files

should i be asking other questions

Hmmm... now I know you can broadcast it by using a webcam, or hooking up your video as a webcam. Not sure how to do this using HTML however. I know that a popular radio station here has a stream that you can listen live... but I am not sure if you can do this for video. You might have to pay for this as well, not sure if the church/customer would be willing to pay for it. Now, I am not sure why you need M2V files... but I can do a Google search if you want.

hold on, i think he was only asking if it could be used with live streaming, not necessarily saying he wanted to use it with live streaming, i think he was only aksing if it was possible

rather than you do all the work, do know of a website that would help explain
M2V files in fairly simple terms

m2v IS an mpeg-2 file, but without audio. no "conversion" is needed to go from mpeg2 to m2v, just demux the video so its on its own.

you probably could capture in m2v, depending on the source, hardware and most importantly programs used, but why would you want to? audio is good
