i've had this problem for at least 2 years. During playback of xvid files the video is divided towards the left by distinct changes in color. They always appear to be either very yellow or very blue. Additionally the video has a miniature rendition of itself which plays in the top left corner of the video frame in blue and yellow. This problem occurs in VLC, WMP, and WMP Classic. It's a weird problem but I haven't been able to find a solution to it for a long time. Can anyone help?

Try opening the file in VirtualDub, and changing the compression to uncompressed (or something else).
Go to Video - compression and select something else, see how that works.CYA Later:

@drf: why are you suggesting re-encoding?
@dislodge: this happens with all xvid files? open the file in virtualdubmod, under 'file' click 'file information' and post all info here.
or for a possible quick fix, download & install the latest ffdshow from http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/tikiw...etting+ffdshow then try playingLast edited by anonymez; 22 Jan 2006, 07:50 AM.Comment

Because it might work. If it is a problem with the XviD, you gotta reencode to something else.
Sorry if I am dead wrong, never had this happen so I am just suggesting, as a "see what happens" thing. Can't hurt, right?CYA Later:
