Capture from VCR fine, but I get no audio

I can capture from my VCR fine, when I preview it before recording I have sound. So I go ahead and start recording. After it finishes recording, I will play the .mpg file it created but, there is no audio. The ffdshow audio decoder icon comes up when I double click the .mpg file. I have the audio connected to the line in on my sound card.

Could the line in on my sound card possibly be bad? (I dont think it is cause I get audio fine before I hit the record button.)

I have the ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 9000 video card. I have it hooked up just like the left side of <a href="http://www.beyond3d.com/reviews/sapphire/aiw900pro/image.php?img=connect.jpg&comment=MultiMedia%20Inp ut/Output%20Connections">this picture</a> .

What software are you capturing in? Try Pinnacle to make an AVI - that keeps the sound.

I've got the All-in-Wonder X600 Pro. It uses an external connector similar to what in your picture is called "4 headed input block". I plug my audio into that external connector, not into my sound card. Could that be it?

Not intending to bump the post, but Jmet, I'm pretty sure that is your problem. I just tried a test run and was able to duplicate your symptoms exactly.

With my audio out from my VCR connected to the audio in on my sound card I was able to get clean video and audio. Looked and sounded great while I was recording. Upon playback of the .mpeg there was no audio. I reconnected my audio out to the ATI external connector and recorded another .mpeg. It had good audio.

I was using the ATI capture software that came with the card. Not sure if different capture software would sidestep this issue.

I have tried everything. I think I am going to buy a new sound card.
