    To Setarip

You sound a bit impatient. Sorry

I just really wanted to solve this problem. I have Cine-Player-Editor for editing mpg files but Virtual Dub was the only inexpensive one I could find. I also have mpgjoin for joinging others that don't work with Cine.

This has been a challenging problem and I appreciate you help. I'll try what you suggested and leave it at that.

Have you had any luck in appending two AVI files? Haven't heard from you since the one post you made.

        it workoksoks

i just recompressed the audio in both avis and it works perfeclty now

you don't have to recompress them with 8'000Hz Mono, it works with every other configuration, too. (i guess so, i tried 192 k'bit, 48'000Hz stereo and it works great)

        thx for the help seta

          ...

whoa, didn't see that there was a second page

yeah as i wrote above, i managed to join them.
but it seems the large joined file is a bit asynchron now - i guess i'll have to try out some different audio formats and configurations.

@seta there actually is no "convert" thingy in the audio dropdown. can it be that u meant "compression" ??

thanks anyway.my boss will be proud of me haha

You are obviously correct regarding the apparently anomalous v.1_4_7 (The author even switched around the order of the dropdown menu headings for that version). Be that as it may, just be a little creative - and click on the other options under the "Audio" dropdown menu and I'm sure you'll readily discover one of them that shows the conversion options...

By the way, you should download the recently released version 1_4_10, as it corrected bugs that were introduced in versions 1_4_6 through 1_4_9.

"thanks anyway.my boss will be proud of mehaha "

            My pleasure ;>}

              Aslphalt - Check this link

Find out how to cut an AVI file into several parts

The third page tells you how to sink the sound under Fixing Audio Synch.

Hope this helps. At least you got your files joined. I'm still trying. Haven't had time to tray setarip's last suggestion.

Would you please list for me the steps you followed to join the two avi files?

I'd also like to know how you resolved the audio sync problems.

                  Thanks

                    hmm

well you said that you fixed your sample-rate prob.
but i think, that "video streams have different formats." does mean the same for video as "have different sample rates" means for audio.

so just go into vDub and
                    -load the first file
-select audio --> direct stream copy
-select video --> full processing mode
-select a video codec and configure it as u like
-file --> save as avi ....
                    -close file
                    -do not close vDub
-load the second file and select "file --> save it as avi"
-close vDub (as a precaution ), start it again
-set both (audio&video) to direct stream copy
                    -open the first file
-file --> append avi segment (select 2nd avi)
                    -save as avi ...

                      unsync

hey i read the guide on the "unsynchron avi after splittin" issue. the problem with my movie is that there are two files being joined.
when i watch the combined avi, the audio gets unsync at the point the original first avi ends and the second one starts, but both the original avis are perfeclty synchron.

does anybody know how to correct the sync on the middle of an avi file?

                      cheers.asphaltsurfer
