Simple DVD recorder for Mini DV camera files?

I am unable to load my Mini DV files from my camera into my PC (and have been told by a professional DV editor that I was fortunate I didn't get the file in). She recommeded I get a simple DVD recorder just for this purpose. ( I have no real interest in recording TV, so need no bells and whistles for that function.) Web research has been not so useful.

I am looking for recomendations for a simple reliable DVD recorder that records on multiple formats has simple chaptering functions and is known to simple and relabel to use..and yes of course lo $. Some simple chaptering and very minowr editing might be useful but haven't a clue about these issues and DVD Recorder. Have looked at Circuit City and still remain unclear what is needed here.

    Reliable brands and models ?

    Thanks in advance

Sorry can't help with a DVD Recorder, but if you plan on doing any editing I think the PC is the way to go ... IMHO !

I'm currently learnin to use Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0, I have a Mini-DVD which makes ease of transfering from cam to PC.

i have heard that the Liteon DVD recorders are very good for the money. They do everything that you have said, the new ones will do +/- disc and they have a firewire camcorder port so you can plug your camcorder straight in, for editing i would recommend getting one witha hard drive though which are a little more expensive!!

Does your PC have a firewire port? The best way to get DV-AVI into your PC is to connect the source to a firewire port on your PC and then use software like WinDV to transfer the video to your hard drive. If necessary, purchasing a firewire card shouldn't be too expensive, $25-30.

Small Windows utility for DV FireWire digital video input/output.
