Skipping problems... software? Cd's? any suggestions?

I've noticed a couple of the last dvd's I backed up have slight 'skipping' problems towards the end of the dvd's. Could this be the burning software I'm using? Or possibly the brand of DVD's I purchased... Been using Memorex. The quality and clarity is great, but I don't want the skipping.
