    Codec problem or?

I just did a mobo and processor upgrade to a AMD 4400 x2 w/ an Asus A8N-VM CSM board. I have Nero 7 Ultra installed.

When watching DVD's, mpeg's avi's etc. in Nero Showtime, or any other player, the video is distorted or half missing.

Is this a codec problem? I've reinstalled Nero to no avail and have the latest drivers for the chipset, board, bios etc.

Any other thoughts? This is really annoying!

did the video/s play ok before. you can use Gspot (free) to see if the correct codec/s are installed and what codec/s your system is using to render the video/audio of the video. d/l and use VLC (free and uses it's own codecs). This will eliminate the possibility of a codec proble. VLC is an excellent player and plays all types of video files.

It did play great before...I'll have to check out VLC and get back to you. Thanks for the reply!

OK, by the look of it, it may be the codecs. Most vids played normally on VLC. Either that or it is the chipset or GPU drivers. I guess I have to play around more...
