creating data back-up cd of mpeg/avi files

Hi guys, my laptop is going crazy, I think I have a virus so I'm going to format the hard drive etc. I'v backed up all my word docs, music, software downlaods etc. The only thing I can't back up is the mpeg/avi files I have saved in my videos. Mainly clips around the 100mb size but a few full-length documentaries and features (700mb). I've been trying to use CDRWIN, a programme a friend recommended, and it completes the process but when I check the back-ups have been successfully transferred only the first clip plays, the rest don't even though they are all listed when I click on drive D in my computer. Any ideas guys? If I can't use CDRWIN to make data back-ups is there any other method?
