i just found out that some of the dvds i burnt are still 4:3 (original) even though the ifo was edited in ifoedit and i set it to 16:9 thinking the dvd player would be tricked into playing it at that aspect. it plays widescreen to me on media player classic but i stick it on other dvd players and its a no go. any idea?
4:3 to 16:9 using ifoedit..?

Any player should take what is in the IFOs and use that Aspect ratio.

that's what i thought. anyway i took a look at the ifo's from those dvds and saw that no boxes were ticked on the Static part of the ifo where you can choose:
Automatic Pan&Scan
Automatic Letterboxed
Letterboxed (top&bottom cropped)
would that be why? im sure i ticked it before i burnt it... maybe i didn't *shrugs* - if i didn't which ones need to be ticked to make the aspect 16:9 (no cropping)Comment

Yes. At least one of Auto LB or Auto PS must be ticked. PgcEdit makes it a breeze to do this.
