    unfinished avi file

    hi i have downloaded an avi file that wont run on any media players or open in TMPGEnc to try and convert it.chances are that its unfinished.does anybody know how to get this to run.

      still no joy

      cheers mate,i tried that tool and it said it wasn't an avi file.any ideas how i find out what it is.when i look at the properties it says video file,but theres nothing in the summary page.i downloaded it off edonkey,its meant to be starwars episode 2.don't know if anybody else has had this prob.

        That sounds like a fake file, try loading it into virtualdub, if that fails, I think you are out of luck.

          yes it wouldn't load into virtuadub, its a fake.it was 900mb,i have just got adsl in.i would have been devastated had i been on 56k and got a fake file.ho-hum you live and you learn

            normally though if its an unfinsihed DL yo won't be able to skip forward or backwords without some error message (in WMP)
