Need help capturing from DV tape

I am trying to import from my Sony DCR-HC42 camera to my computer using Vegas Video. When I PLAY the video from the camera on the computer, it looks great. But when I CAPTURE it, I get jaggies and the picture just doesn't look like it is supposed to.

I couldn't find a FAQ on this, but if someone could help out a new member I would really appreciate it.

I am using Win XP, latest updates and all drivers current.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    Joel

    Hi jcomm,

First of all, welcome to the forum. I've Sony Vegas 6 for capturing and editing video without any problem. For processing video, please make sure to have sufficient memory (My PC has 1.5 GB of memory), defrag your hard drive completely before capturing, close any other running programs, capture video to a different partition or hard drive other than C: drive if you can.

Sony Vegas definitely needs plenty of memory to run. Please download and try a different tool for video capture - WinDV which is a nice, simple, and free program to use. Hopefully you'll have a better luck with it

Small Windows utility for DV FireWire digital video input/output.
