How to convert MIDI files to MP3??

Just wondering if anyone can point me toward a free program that I can use to convert a couple of midi files into mp3 format?

I tried Midi Converter 4.0 but it is only a trial and only converts 30 seconds of the midi files.

If anyone here know of any I would appreciate a heads up.

    Thanks!

I have a guide I saved, but the server it was on went down. Give me a day or so to reupload it.

Please try a free software called SynthFont for converting MIDI to WAV and then use BeSweet or BeLight to convert from WAV to MP3

SynthFont, Viena, VSTSynthFont and SyFonOne are the four main tools provided here for playing with MIDI files and SoundFonts, SynthFont lets you also edit MIDI files while Viena lets you edit SoundFonts. Use SynthFont to create audio files for playback on other devices: MIDI-to-WAV or MIDI-to-MP3

WinLAME is another good program for WAV to MP3 conversion, in case you are interested. My method uses WAV output too, and you will need WinAmp.

The link to download the old WinAmp doesn't work, so get it at www.oldversion.com, get version 2.91 (I would directly link it, but I am at school so I have to use a webproxy as they block the site, and that gives me screwed up URLs that can't be copied very well.)

          Thanks People!

Thanks for the help, but when I install SynthFont I get an error messege every time I try to open the program. I'm running WinXP. This is the error:

Error. ***Please send me the SynthFont.elf log file!***

Access violation at address 00403FD0 in module 'SynthFont.exe'
          Read addresss C0950F3C

I wonder what the problem is??

Audacity is a free sound editing program. It won't do MIDI but once you convert to either wav or mp3 you can edit from there.http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Have you tried my method? It works great. And WinLAME is freeware too.

No problem, this is when a "Saved Websites" folder comes in handy
