Hoping someone might answer this.
I don't think it has been answered previously on this forum.
I am still pretty new to analogue capture.
I have a DVICO Fusion HDTV Plus card with analogue capture capability.
My PC is a pentium 4, with a 1.8ghz processor, 512mb memory and now 2 HDDs being 80gb and 250gb.
I have probably 40-50 VHS and VHS-C tapes that I want to convert to DVD.
My problem is that I do not seem able to capture PAL 720x576 AVI files with this card.
The DVICO software allows me to capture PAL 720x576 MPEG2 files - but my PC (probably processor) cannot cope with the load - the video is jerky and the video quality is not good enough.
The DVICO software does not support capturing to AVI files.
So I tried the bundled Ulead Video Studio 8 software.
This does support capture to AVI.
But the maximum size that seems to be available is 640x480.
This seems to be the maximum I would use for NTSC - but I (think I) require PAL.
The largest size AVI file I can capture that provides the best quality video is 384x288.
So I tried 2 of the freeware capture programs VirtualDUB and VirtualVCR.
While I have not fully grasped either of these yet, the result seems to be the same as Ulead.
I cannot capture to AVI at 720x576.
I am trying to get an answer to this through the DVICO Q&A but have not been successful to date.
I am starting to get the impression that maybe a bought the wrong card (again) for what I now know I want to do.
So I suppose my question is, is this card capable of capturing 720x576 AVI?
And if Yes, what software do I need to use and how should I use it?
If you have got this far, thanks for your time.
And thankyou in advance for any help.
Steve
