    nero dolby digital 5.1ch problem

    hi guys

    i been having promblems with the dolby digital plug in for nero 6 ... i encode a movie(the movie sound track is in stereo) using nero express 3 and select audio channels to 5.1ch ...eveything gets encoded alright but when i play the movie on my dvd player home therther the vocie channel is coming from the centre ,front left and front right...it should be ONLY coming from the centre speaker ...the background sound works perfect with all the movie sound action effects ......i dont know how i can get the vocie channel just to centre speaker ,is there any configuration that needs to be done manual ???

    please tell i ve serched all over the net but seems ive only got the promblem

        Sounds to me like & I am far from being an expert that all your doing is adding 5.1 to the already existing stereo so unless you extract the existing to insert the 5.1 you would always have this problem. Now like I say I am far from being a pro on this & what I just said might be a pile of B$ but that's what it sounds like to me.

            It says from though, wouldn't the 5.1 when added have to be on a seperate audio track from the original stereo track because it is still there isn't it? If you look at a normal dvd, you have a menu where you pick the audio you want so to my way of thinking they must be on different tracks. What it sounds like to me is one of two things, either all the 5.1 does is enhance the original stereo track leaving it intact or when the 5.1 gets added it is added on to the same track as the original stereo. Again I am no expert & I am way out of my depth but just trying to think it through. It is probably a lot of B$ & absolutely no help to you anyway but hopefully one of the pros will eventually stop by & really help you, good luck.

                2 months? don't worry,i will post a single "don't know" and in the future(round 2 months)another one came and post the same! lol
                just kiddin...!!!

                from your first post:
                eveything gets encoded alright but when i play the movie on my dvd player home therther the vocie channel is coming from the centre ,front left and front right...it should be ONLY coming from the centre speaker ...
                ok,here is the "problem".nero or any other encoder only encode but don't separate the channels as you(and me) want.the center channel result is L+R(full center).
                first you have to extract the channels and later encode this channels in his respectives places.

                in the end "we" want:

                L = complete left channel only
                R = complete right channel only
                C = center channel alone where C=L-R
                LFE="stomach effects" or sub-woofer
                SL= surround left alone where SL=L-C
                SR= surround right alone where SR=R-C

                --> this is 5.1

                is this what you want?

                    thanks for the link BR7!

                    comments: a pity that in DDForum the users don't care too much about audio,we could do cool guides to 5.1 in "our" way....a pity!
                    if here could have one place where only registered members have permission to download or read one guide i could post my guide...i don't want in "public" view because(trust me) i have "jealous" of my guide and was "hard" to do one "so simple and fast guide"( i am clear in what i want to mean? )

                    ps: is your photo in your avatar BR7?

                              hey guys yay finally a response and some talk about 5.1 (as theres really not much on the net about this espically the encoding side of it ......
                              but thanks "jeo" for the response u quoted :

                              L = complete left channel only
                              R = complete right channel only
                              C = center channel alone where C=L-R
                              LFE="stomach effects" or sub-woofer
                              SL= surround left alone where SL=L-C
                              SR= surround right alone where SR=R-C

                              --> this is 5.1

                              is this what you want?

                              yes thats how excatly how i want it . and the next promblem is there any simple soluion with a few clicks that can do the proprer channeling ?i dont realy want to extract the auido from it (movie sound track) then to recode it .then replace it with the video file ...thats just a time consuming option and i already get too much flak from the miss being on the pc all the time lol.....???????

                              thanks for the reply
                              (i dont know why theres not a proper thread on it or does just everyone watch there movies on the pc ???)
