I'm new to this forum, and I must say, this place is jam-packed with information. I'm going to be spending a LOT of time browsing and learning.
My question ---
I've scanned a bit in several forums and Wikepedia, and the few example screen-shots I found make these two phenomena look the same.
If I understand correctly, both are caused by using a too-low bit setting. I have an avi video capture (used Huff to YUY2) that looks very smooth. But it then shows these type of artifacts when I try to use AviSynth filters to brighten and intensify the color, even though I have VirtualDubMod set for 24-bit output.
Please, can someone explain the difference between banding and posterization? How to prevent them? How to correct them?
any advice will be most appreciated.
Thanks
