Need Help On Converting Subtitles

Is there any way to convert the stupid idx/ifo/sub format to a normal subtitle format like MicroDVD or something? I have downloaded and tried several subtitle tools, but none seems to suport this stupid format.

For idx/ifo/sub subs you most use vobsub. Which works flawlessly in wmp6.4, I'am not sure which other player work with vobsub.

I already have vobsub, and I have no problem displaying the subtitles in WMP, but the problem is that I want to convert this format to any of the another formats.

The problem is that I can not place the subtitles in the lower black field when I watch letterboxed movies. With some subs I can't change the fontsize and they are sometimes so small that I can't read them. None of these problems exist with other formats.
If someone can help me out, or point me at the right direction, I would be very greatful.

OK sorry for taking so long - this is not exactly a high priority problem for me.

I figured out how to convert vobsub subs to a text based format using subrip.

First load the .idx file into vobsub configure. Here you should be able to see which subtitle streams are alive.

Then rename the .sub to .vob and load that into subrip, now you should be able to select the proper subtitles stream and convert to text as you would normally do with subrip.

This problem has been solved with the latest version of Dvobsub.
