Best software to edit video

I am trying to find the best software to edit my videos. Most of the time I want to be able to just remove parts of a video (commercials).

Whats the best value? Any free stuff thats good?

TMPGEnc. Not free but it has a free trial and gets the job done nicely.

by that i guess you mean mpeg2, ps/ts. freeware is projectX and cuttermaran. neither actually edit the video, so won't do much more than demux, join and split. as for commercial software imho videoredo is easily the best for the job
