that will play it, but not sure if it will give you those properties. if you want to see what the file has try virtualdubmod, gspot, mediainfo.....

I installed FFDSHOW codec when I was installing windows, that was mounts ago.
I had the same problem about a year ago, I fixed with puting this
REGSVR32 /U SHMEDIA.DLL and REGSVR32 SHMEDIA.DLL, but with some reason it doesn't work this time.Comment

my guess is the registry entry that loads shmedia.dll in explorer has been deleted/modified. just use g-spot or mediainfo till your next clean install, and in the future you might want to keep system restore enabledREGSVR32 /U SHMEDIA.DLL and REGSVR32 SHMEDIA.DLL, but with some reason it doesn't work this time."What were the things in Gremlins called?" - Karl Pilkington
