    DVD players damaging HDTV's

I've heard this rumour and am wondering if indeed some HDTV's are ruined/damaged by your typical average dvd player or if this is some trick to make people buy HDDVD players now?

    Howdy!

The only thing that can happen is on the Plasma units, if y ou leave the menu up too long, or leave the Plasma unit on a news channel with the rolling ticker and station ID at the bottom, it can burn into the screen permanently and the entire Plasma unit is done for.

A standard DVD player cannot damage anything, thus your assumption is correct, they are trying to get you to buy a blu-ray DVD player based on bogus information....which btw is illegal. You can look this up in the Federal Trade Comission's web site for information regarding false sales pitches to force a consumer to make a purchase based on incorrect information.

    Here..I will fix it!
