    If you want the final output to be in divx format, (only playable on computer) you can use a bitrate calculator. Determine the bitrate and simply encode with virtualdub and your favorite divx codec. If you want a vcd or svcd (playable on either computer or dvd player) then you could use tmpge to convert it to mpeg format. Need to know what final destination will be.

      Assuming that you have the DivX v.3.11alpha video codec installed (and, automatically, it's companion Radium .MP3 audio codec), do the following:

      Load .AVI into VirtualDub
      A) Set "Video" to "Full Processing Mode"
      B) Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
      C) Under "Audio", click on "Conversion", select "44,100Khz"
      D) Under "Audio", click on "Compression" select "MP3", "44,100Khz", "96Kbps"
      E) Under "Video", click on "Compression" and select the DivX v.3.11 Fast Motion codec (Click on "OK" to accept its default configuration)
      F) Save revised .AVI with new filename

      Let us know of your success ;>}
