    Video Files are HUGE!

Hi all...I have a Sony cybershot camera and have taken about 10 hours of video of a trip to Africa. The problem is that when I try to capture to the hard disk I soon run out of disk space on a 250 gig drive with at least 175 open. The Sony has Picture producer software that will save small bits of the tape in AVI format and then tie them all together to make shorts of about 3 to 4 minutes and it saves them in the MPEG-1 format but the quality is really poor when burned to a video-cd and played on the TV. Hooking the camera to the TV gives great quality video. I'm puzzled as to how to create CD's or DVD's out of my tapes. I can watch a whole hour and a half movie made in Hollywood on a DVD so I know it must be able to be done. Any help appreciated. NJC

DV from recollection should be around 13GB's/hour so for 10 hours that should be 130GB's, so I am not sure what is going on if 175GB's isn't enough.
