Hi, im new to this site so i hope one of you can help me. I recently got a new computer, much faster than my old one, so i know the issue is not with my computer's memory/speed or whatever. So heres my problem, when i go to play a downloaded video in any program(Windows Media Player/Real Player/Quicktime), the video and audio both play fine, but within a few seconds the video and audio seem to slowly be getting further and further apart. After 1 minute or so the video seems to be 5 or 6 seconds ahead of the audio, VERY annoying considering i never had this problem on my old (much crappier) computer. Someone please help me. THANKS ALOT
audio and video are not synchronized!!

I have had similar problems and not yet fixed it, so can't give you a quick guide. But I can say that it doesn't seem to be an easy fix. What probably has happened is that the bitrates are wrong for the clip.
For example, there is 100kb of 10kb/sec video, giving you 100/10=10sec of video. In the audio there is 20kb of 2kb/sec audio, giving you 20/2=10 sec of audio. But what has likely happened is that for some reason the clip or the player thinks that the audio is 2.1kb/sec, giving you 9.5 sec of video. So he longer the clip plays the more out of sync it will get.
There are ways to fox this that I have seen, but I haven't bookmarked any of them let alone tried them, so don't really feel qualified to suggest a way. The problem is that now it is out of sync the computer can't automatically fix it, as it doesn't know what sound fits with which frame - you will need to do that by trial and error.
I think there may be some programs that make the process a bit easier. I hope that some here can give some actual advice and pointers.

Well, im still having the same problems. It would really be great if someone could just give me anything to try, im all out of ideas, if it helps ill include my system specs and some more information.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 1.00Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE
1GB DDR Ram
If it helps im unsing Windows Media Player 10, also the problem is not constant, last week i watched an entire movie without any problems, later that night the problems came back. I know it is not the video file itself as they still play fine on my old p4.
ANY tips will be greatly appreciated as i am not very smart with computers.
Thanks, TylerComment

audio sync problems
I picked up Premiere 3.0 about a month ago and the damn thing had the same problem you described about audio out sync from a divx file. I tried everything to get it in sync. How I solved the problem is use another program. What I found out is that 95% of the programs (tested a lot) all have that same problem except for three: VSO, Cucusoft's AVI MPEG to DVD and Ulead's Movie Factory 5.3. I like Ulead's version because the user interface is so basic a five year old could do it. Plus it lets you squeeze a file to fit on a DVD 4.7 disc since converting 2 hour strip at 7000(the default) is about 5.5 GBs. Plus good picture. This product will end your headaches.Comment
