A SVGA converter is what you need.
Try looking around at http://www.mcminone.com for these converters. Some do a very good job and provide very clean and stable video from a PC. -
Yes. There are several models of HD units, both LCD and Plasma based, that have the SVGA connector built into the unit, and selectable via the video input select function on the front pannel controls or remote control.

The prices will continue to fall over the next several months. As more of the newer units are sold and in homes, the prices will drop even further.
We are still about a year and half away from NTSC being shut down forever. (target date is 2009 at the most) This gives folks time to become aquainted with the new televisions, the formats that will be transmitted and the differences between the transmitted formats. Unfortunately the FCC left the door wide open as to a standard format for HD broadcast. Why they did it that way is probably to make a gradual transition from low end HD to the top of the line HD, resolution wise.
The goal is to hit 1080p on all HD broadcasts as the minimum resolution standard. Granted there will be much higher resoltuions available on the HD bandwidth. But since the FCC did not specify absolute minimums at this point in the game it is almost impossible to say that prices will continue to drop after a certian period if a format standard is adopted and put into the regulations. But as with items today falling in price as newer units are released, the prices will probably follow the trend as it usually does with any product.
Be nice to see a 42" LCD True HD Direct Pannel set hit $400.00!!
It may someday. Just as the old CRT based 36 inch set sold at one time for over a thousand bucks, it really didnt take long for that thing to drop down to under 500.00 when the Plasma and LCD units came out at 3,000.00 and higher than they are now.
