add *.srt files to an *.avi movie

    hi all

how should I add *.srt files to an *.avi movie and in what program?

both *.srt and *.avi files have the same name, I tried in wmpclassic but I got an error there.

    the error was:

"To load subtitles you have to change the video renderer type and reopen the file.
    -DirectShow: VMR7/VMR9 renderless or Haali's
-Realmedia: special renderer for Realmedia, or open it through DirectShow
-Quicktime: DX7 or DX9 renderer for QuickTime
    -Shockwave: N/A"

    greetz

    :edit: GSpot gives following info:

well ... lets says it gives allot of info and I dont know whats appropiate to post

    thanx

    DirectShow: VMR7/VMR9 renderless or Haali's

I reccomend using VLC for subtitles, using MPC and using that VMR7 lags my PC a lot, and in fullscreen mode it looks like a slideshow

due to an old graphics card. for VMR9 a dx9 graphics card is needed

Mine is AFAIK, it might be CPU, dunno.

          But I still like VLC

installing vsfilter will allow you to view subs in ovleray mixer

OK, thanks... but still LOL, ffdshow decoder takes more CPU than whatever VLC uses. Only stuff I use MPC on is interlaced, since ffdshow deinterlaces it.

they both use libavcodec: performance should be very similar.

                update your ffdshow build

There is more overhead decoding via dshow though. mplayer is usually fastest, then VLC and ffdshow last despite the fact that they all use libavcodec.
