    Removing Two Resource Hogs From Msconfig Startups Associated With Adobe Reader 8.0

    If you use the Adobe Reader 8.0 it has dumped two automatic start-up resource hogs in MSCONFIG start-ups when you start Windows and uses resources even if you are not using Adobe Reader 8.0
    Named Adobe Reader SP___ and Adobe Reader SY___.

    They are two start-ups that help Adobe Reader speed load the PDF pages and sync of the PDF pages. They can be deleted without any ill effects of Adobe Reader working properly. Just slower loading and sync time when you do use Adobe Reader 8.0

    Uncheck them in MSCONFIG start-ups, and then reboot and use the REGEDIT run command to formally remove them from the registry under msconfig.

    Location in the registry
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\SHARED TOOLS\MSCONFIG\STARTUP REG

    These are very noticable resource hogs you will see a speed increase in boot-up time.

      @uufta,

      This is what I use to determine if I can safely remove the start-up items from MSCONFIG. It gets updated every three months.
