Help with M4A file

I was unsure of what forum to put this in but I had a general question, I used itunes to add my whole CD collection to my computer but they were saved as M4A? file and now I want to covert or save them as mp3 file I was wondering on how I could do this, if anybody knows or can point me to the right area I would appreciate it.

An m4a is just an incorrectly named mp4. Many tools that can convert mp4's to mp3 such as foobar2000 or dbPowerAmp. Much better would be to rerip using EAC/lame.
1. EAC is a better ripper than iTunes.
2. Re-encoding lossy to lossy causes further quality loss.

That is unless your ripped to ALAC, in which case forget about point 2.

You can use a free but wonderful program called CDex which can use to rip CDs and convert to MP3 audio files. You can download the program and guide here:

lossy-->lossy is a no-no. as already suggested, rip from the original discs

Sorry but what EAC/lame

EAC = Exact Audio Copy
Lame = Lame mp3 Encoder
All of this may sound "techy" & difficult, but it is really not, once you understand the basics.
