Problem Playing .AVI

Hello, I am new here at the forums but you guys are so helpful I thought I might try my luck. I DL an episode of "smallville" from Kazaa and when I try to play it all that come out is the sound. I tried playing it in Real Player, Windows Media Player, but nothing. The file is called "Smallville 117 - Reaper (Divx-mp3).avi"
I also DL the DIVX player but nothing. Any help would be great. Remember I am not as good as you guys with this cimputer stuff so be patient with me

What divx player you download? go to downloads.com and download "divx5.01" bundle has every codec you will need

Thanks for your help. I saw that installing that in my comp would also install SPYWARE, called gator. Is there any other alternative?

It's been a while since I installed it but I don't think you have to accept gator. If it does install anyway you can always uninstall or delete. I no longer have gator anywhere on my computer. Another suggestion- download "ad-aware" and do a search on your puter. It will find all spyware files and then just check all with "gator" and delete. Ad-aware is a great program. DivX5 is an updated and souped-up version of DivX4 ONLY. DivX3 is a hacked version of M$'s MPEG4V2 codec. Those two are different, from a technical point of view. Does not really matter if all you want to do is playback files anyway. Just correcting a small mistake.
