    Video Card?

What would be a good Video card to install in a HP AMD Atholon 64
3800 2.39 GHz with 2 GB of RAM? I want to be able to play DVD's in my burners and send them to the TV. One that has S Video out, or is that not available? I'm not a gamer, so it doesn't mater if it's top of the line. Just want to play da movies. Burn em play 'em.

Hmm - an ALL IN WONDER would probably be fine. Just check the specs re: the s video out. If you're not doing any gaming, you're lucky because you'll save loads of dough.

    Check this out - http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonx1...900/specs.html

It might have more bells and whistles than you need.

I would find out if my computer had an agp or a pci-express slot for the video card first?

either are good but not interchangable

Certainly - good to choose the card that matches the slot My suggestion wasn't necessarily that particular model but an AIW in general. And there are many other choices out there - for AGP and pci-express.

I have one PCI Express x16 expansion slot, so I'll start shopping.

          Thanks for the info friends.

              Here's the Why

Once I burn a DVD, it plays well on my 2 PC R/W's. One is a Sony DRX-81 connected by way of USB, the other is an internal LightScribe, and the 3rd is a just a DVD player. Wide screen is wide screen, beatiful copies, but when I play them in my DVD player the video is distorted.

There's got to be something I'm missing in the DVD player settings. The movies play, but it's not in wide screen. Faces are elongated. No black bar on top or bottom.

                Fixed

My DVD player was suspect. All is well. Movies play well.
