dvd wont play in stand alone player

Hi, me again. I have been backing up my old videos for a while now using Fusion, DVD Author 2 and DVD Shrink/Imageburn with much success. I have recently formatted my hard drive and ever since, the DVD's that I have produced wont play in my stand alone dvd player. Its the same thing when I backup a movie off a dvd. They play in the pc with auto start. The disc I use are Printable 4.7 -R. I now have three new coasters.

Does anyone have any clues as to why? I'm puzzled. Thanks Alan.

While burning with imgBurn, did you verify?

See what result it gives. If possible post the latest ImgBurn log available in your Application Data folder.

One more suggestion my friend,
Use ImgBurn to build the DVD Structured ISO from your VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. This a job that ImgBurn is specialist.

I do a lot of DVD backups as you, and this is what I do.

Try a firmware update. As well, post your burn logs. In the meantime, read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.

It might also be the player just don't like the media.

Thanks again for your replies I have taken you advice. Below is a copy of the last log in Imageburn as requested.

I have tried to update the 'firmware' on my Sony burner, but have the latest. Read the golden rules of burning, AGAIN, and it seems like the media could be the problem, although I though Verbatim would be ok. I will look at Imageburn 'build', Thanks.

Do you have the opportunity to test these burned discs in another standalone other than the Samsung ?

Need to narrow down whether its a media/player issue (plus -R vs. +R issue) .... or ... a burning/authoring issue.

Thanks Alien, the disc plays perfectly in my pc, but I'll seek a different brand of player from a friend, and give it a try.

Thanks CHEWY for the link to upgrade. I couldn't find it in the Sony website and have now updated my SONY firmware from jyo2 to jy08. Will now try the burning process again.

Your ImgBurn log is not showing any problem. I suggest that you try to use some other media like TY [Tao Yuden]. Are you putting any labels on the disc using Papers?

How about giving IfoEdit a shot? Could be the pointers. You can find everything you need in Cynthia's guide "DVDShrink for dummies".
