    Hello again,

This is becoming a bit of a saga, but my first burning project (DSE DVD-R) which won't play on my Samsung player, played normally on a Panasonic.

A reminder that my burner is Sony, DRU720A and I have now downloaded the latest FIRMWARE upgrade and tried burning the same file on a
    "Verbatim DVD-RW'.

    Results
    Image burn=no.
    Nero=no.
DVD Author's own burner=yes (this was sussessful)

I have tried to burn the same file on a different media, 'DATA BANK DVD-R" with out any success. During verify it cam up with i/o error.

The Image burn log is below.

If you all get bored with this, I will understand. Regards Alan.

          Hello Alan

As your ImgBurn log is showing, your burner does not like the media you used and so the verification failure occurred. You can be rest assured that if ImgBurn gives error massege during output the disc will either not play in a Stand Alone player or after some runs it will surely develop troubles.

What it seems that you need to try different Disc types to see which one is liked both by your Stand alone player and Burner.

Regarding blank media, I suggest that you go for some 8x media, not the newer 16x media and ensure that you buy original Verbatim or Tayo Yuden discs.

          Hope I have helped you.

but that is the old lighton before they took over Benq , the new lighton likely are from Benq engineers

                      4th Generation Standard (3S-v2)

                      actually it's a liteon 1673 which is a 1693

                      liteon made them for sony

they changed model numbers but didn't change the burner, just the firmware

at least your sony's firmware is as updated as any of the liteons

Thanks everybody for your replies and help.

I thought you might like to know that the problem is solved. My new Ritek DVD-R disks arrived, and today I burned two new movies and both played perfectly on all my DVD players. Now I can get on with my life. lol Alan.
