    Problem with mediaplayer

Hi... My mediaplayer seems to be trashed, (it doesn't start to play ANY kind of mpeg/avi/divx file) it just says "connecting..."

Sometimes an error mesage is displayed:

    MM SYSTEM277
A problem occured when MCI should be initiated.
    Try restart windows.

I've tried to remove windows mediaplayer & and reinstall, but the darn thing just won't get fixed
I *really* don't wanna re-install whole windows... I ..just have to much installed.. would take forever

    I'm using win98.
I think the problem occured when i installed some film-editing tool. (dont remember which, hovever, i have removed it so...)

Is there any way to fix this without reinstalling ?!

    Thank you !

    =)

Have you tried using a different player?

Yes, I've downloaded one, which works for divx only.
      (The one at divx.com)

But there are som many other programs and tools that are using windows mplayer that it gets really annoying.

Im thinking mayby something is wrong in the registry... but i don't know how to fix things like that *sigh*...

I would recommend GDIVX. Also, use WMP 6.4
